Top 5 things to do this October half-term with the kids
Look out for the dino duo, Jasmine and Jester as they meet and greet visitors enjoying a family day out at Lightwater Valley.
We asked them to take a break from dino dancing and talk us through their favourite ways to spend their day here at Lightwater Valley and what they recommend for all of you visiting this half-term, to keep the kids entertained.
Hello Jester and Jasmine! So, what would be the first ride you race to when you come through the park doors?
Jester: I love adrenaline so for me it would be The Ultimate rollercoaster. The longest ride in Europe, lasting six minutes long.
Jasmine: If the sky is blue and the sun is peaking through, I’d race to Splash Falls, our water ride which ends in a giant splash! Then if I get a little wet, I’ve got the rest of the day to shake my tail dry…
Which is your favourite activity here at the park - perfect for all ages?
Jester: It has to be Jurassic Golf where our fellow dinosaurs reside among the 18-hole golf course, ideal for beginners and those with a little more swing!
Jasmine: I like to take it slow on a Swan boat down at the Lake, it’s as pretty as a picture and the whole family can fit aboard. Not including me of course.
What if it drizzles? Can we do anything fun without the sun?
Jester: A rain-mac will sort you out! A good opportunity to whizz down our wild river rapids if you ask me! The wetter you get, the better.
Jasmine: Oh no, I don’t like getting soaked so I’d head into the indoor play where the little ones can burn some energy in the soft play obstacle course and ball pit, while grown-ups have a hot drink.
How about our guests who are animal lovers, what can they enjoy?
Jasmine: I’d take the tractor ride around Eagle’s Creek Farm area where goats, piggies and sheep are kept, grazing and lazing their day away. It’s fun to spot them from the ride and point them out!
Jester: I love the Birds of Prey Centre with the fantastic falcons. During half-term there’s flying shows on daily, where the birds fly so high, even our friends the Tetradactyl wouldn’t be able to keep up!
Where is your favourite place for a bite to eat in the park?
Jasmine: I enjoy Tasty Tuckers at the theme park entrance. Their delicious bacon sandwich keeps me full of energy for the day.
Jester: The Hungry Harbour right by Pirates Cove is the place for me! I see plenty of scallywags in there munching down the children’s hot food menu (from only £4.95) or meal box (choosing up to five items) for just £4.50. Or if you’re super hungry like me, you can get both!
Thanks for sharing guys. What are you up too now?
Jasmine: We’re back off to the park entrance for a dance party with guests coming through the doors, we like to get them moving and shaking as soon as they join us!
Jester: I’ll race you back Jasmine!
