Powder Kegs

Powder Kegs

For the uninitiated, a powder keg is a barrel of gunpowder that was the primary method for storing and transporting large quantities of black powder up until the 1870s and the adoption of the modern cased bullet. The kegs always had to be handled with care, since a spark or other source of heat could cause the contents to deflagrate (burn rapidly with great intensity). As such, this attraction has the potential to be one of our more explosive rides, assaulting the pirate senses with a fast, spinning and sometimes dizzying experience.

Located within Skeleton Cove, this ride is manufactured by Huss and is known as a ‘breakdance’ to industry insiders and hardcore enthusiasts. When the ride is activated, the platform rotates and the hubs rotate in the opposite direction to the platform. The combination of the platform slope, hub movement, and weight displacement within the cars cause them to rock back and forth, the oblique join mount and the motion of the ride allowing the cars to rotate through 360°.
